Change History

2008-12-30-14:45 Oh, My Mistake
1. Under the latest construction-structure model for nfoCentrale sites, there should be a Construction Zone here at the top level of the site.
2. Meanwhile, I am adding a link to the Kiln Sitter's Diary as part of the sidebar of those pages that use Vicki's template.
3. I also need to make a construction structure for the new diary folder, eliminating the placeholders that are there now.
4. Then I need to redo the construction structure of this site, starting with rearrangement of the construction/ section and addition of a repaving project.
2003-06-09-20:27 Convert to Updated Construction Structure (orcmid)
1. The Include Page methodology for construction structure and construction zones is put into place.
2. The change history is no longer maintained here.  All of the construction information is now maintained in separate job jars and logs of materials.
3. This page is brought up to HTML 4.01 practice, but it will no longer be referenced.

2002-10-13-09:21 Reduce to Minimal Cloaking Accommodation (orcmid)
The cloaking arrangement was changed.  There is more information in the construction section.
2002-10-12-12:17 Accommodate Cloaking (orcmid)
I updated this site (and other anchored sites on nfoCentrale.net and InfoNuovo.com) for cloaked access.
1. I must now adjust to the standard structure used for that access by making sure that all external links have target=_top (or _blank), and internal links that are to be presented as logical addresses be done absolutely.
2. Other adjustments include putting path-menus on more pages where it is intended that people be able to capture the (logical) URL of where they are.  This is a stop-gap until I can find a mirror-independent way of accomplishing the same thing.

2002-08-02-14:38 Adjust Styles (orcmid)
The styles are adjusted somewhat, also to cut down on the proportional amount of red in the background tint for untextured pages.  There is more information emerging in the Construction section.

2002-01-12-15:15 Tweak Appearance (orcmid)
1. I set a default background color that appears before the paper-texture image appears.  It is R:255, G:230, Blue:204
2. I adjusted the construction blocks to be smaller and fit into footer bars where there is one (as on index.htm here).

2002-01-08-21:08 Use Smarter Sans Serif Fonts (orcmid)
1. I expanded the list of font faces to "Arial, Helvetica, Geneva, Swiss, Sans Serif" wherever I want to have a sans serif typeface, as in the title block of this page.  This construction is propagated throughout the Millennia-Antica.com site.

2002-01-08-14:25 Use Papyrus-Font Welcome Text on Default Page (orcmid)
1. I took Vicki's office sign and created a .GIF file for a high-quality Welcome text always in a shadowed Papyrus font.  The default.htm page is updated to use this as the source of text.
2. The new theme is consistently propagated to the remaining pages of this sub-web.
3. I can't wait to try this out on Orcmid's Lair, providing more personality for the different domains of nfoCentrale (and for nfoCentrale.net itself).

2002-01-07-22:46 Set up Default Page and Theme for Site (orcmid)
1. The nfoCentrale/default.htm page was morphed to provide a text welcome for Millennia Antica.
2. The (original) large lidded-pot bitmap was used to make a transparent GIF file.
3. I found a texture on the Microsoft Design Studio web site that provides a very close match to the paper texture that Vicki uses for her signs and stationery.
4. I modified the font and hyperlink colors to conform to Vicki's theme.
5. Because the use of "/" to denote a subweb root looks too much like an italic "I", I switched to using "./" (in code font) in those places where I want to designate the root.  (This practice will be extended to all of nfoCentrale.net.)
6. The theme was propagated to additional pages, such as ./index.htm.

2001-12-30-12:00 Set up Web Forwarding of Millennia-Antica.com (orcmid)
1. The domain aliasing provided by bCentral is only good for aliasing the root domain name.
2. The Interland FAQ provided information about companies that provide domain forwarding, URL masking, and also redirecting entries at the root.  I didn't like the flavor of any of these services.
3. I discovered that Network Solutions provides web forwarding for essentially $1 per month.  So I set up forwarding of Millennia-Antica.com to nfoCentrale.net/millennia-antica/ and it is operating.
4. This means that the target domain name will be visible and will apply when pages are bookmarked or put into favorites.  I am now looking at a solution for that.  It may be by some device to implement in the Millennia Antica subweb itself.  This seems like a desirable solution.  No matter how one gets into a subweb on the site, the URL that is provided would always reflect the particular domain being mirrored.  I need to deal with preserving independence of mirror-site pages from their anchor-site location, in that case.

2001-12-29-13:21 Provisional Structure for Millennia Antica on bCentral (orcmid)
1. A miniature Millennia Antica site is constructed using the Centrale compagno laptop's PWS, FrontPage 2000, and Visual Source Safe 6.0.
2. The three initial sections and the root are given construction-structure pages and an entrance default page is defined.
3. The idea is to confirm establishment of Millennia-Antica.com as a sub-domain of the nfoCentrale.net site hosted by Microsoft bCentral.  The initial material is complete, with no broken links.  Once the provisional structure is established, meaningful content can be introduced by progressive refinements.
4. Beside providing the first appearance of Millennia Antica on the web, the provisional material is designed to explore two capabilities on bCentral: hosting of additional domains (i.e., millennia-antica.com) and the consequences of relative links to anchor-site locations (i.e., nfocentrale.net/construction/).
5. 2001-12-30: I confirmed that bCentral's domain aliasing won't do what I want.  Instead, Web forwarding is available, and it doesn't mask the nfoCentrale.net URL.  So relative links work just fine, because all URLs are for the anchor site.
